The need to measure the durability of animal Feed Pellets is an important aspect of quality control in their manufacture for the milling industry. Feed Pellets are essentially a blend of different constituent dust particles formed and pressed together into a Pellet. It is therefore key to their performance that they do not breakdown into dust after manufacture and before use by the Farmer. Our client had developed a machine that would simulate the handling between manufacture and use and established a measure of the degradation experienced by the pellets to allow the Mill to control quality.

Originally our client simply wanted a new supplier to manufacture their existing product but very soon we were working with their front line team to design a new methodology. This new system was all about developing a stable and repeatable test environment to achieve consistent results. This involved much investigation and evaluation of every component part to eliminate any variables that could possibly produce an error. The latest models are the Benchmark for the Industry.

Having established a new methodology for the test chamber, the TekPro team set about establishing a range of machines for different applications around the same test requirement. A portable quick test manual unit, a Semi Automatic Laboratory unit and an In-process Fully Automatic unit with Data Link to the Mill Controls provide the equipment for reliable test procedures and effective quality control.

The client was not only impressed with TekPro’s development and manufacturing skills, he observed our presence and activity in a related market. So after 8 years of involvement they invited TekPro to market their products, under licence, on a worldwide basis. This has led to even more product development with increased demand and market share.

We have been working with the TekPro people for over 10 years now and in that time they have developed our products, increased our business and maintained an industry standard for Pellet Durability Testers. From our original concept they have developed and manufactured two generations of Pellet Testers which clearly shows their ability to ‘get involved with their customers over the long term. It’s a relationship we value and hope to maintain.
